Sci Tech Cyclists smash Lands' End-John O'Groats target

The SciTech Cyclists nearly doubled their target to ride 1189 miles (The distance from Lands End to John O'Groats) to raise money for CAFT. The team took it a bit far, literally, cycling 800km further than they set as a target. That's enough miles to go to Iceland (flotation and physics notwithstanding)!

The Team raised over £3000 for our official charity partner, CAFT, not including Gift Aid.

Thanks so much to our generous sponsors and supporters, you really did make a difference - September isn't the best month for cycling and this year, your donations kept me pedalling despite the weather! CAFT is a brilliant charity and you've done a great thing in supporting the children to enjoy being kids, at CAFT away from the issues they face. Thanks Again.

Phil Blything

A big THANK YOU to Phil from all at Sci-Tech Daresbury . Not only was he a real catalyst in conceiving the idea of our LEJOG cycling challenge but caught the cycling bug to do significantly more than his share of the distance required. I think he has definitely moved from novice to veteran cyclist! And a thank you to Phil’s sponsors and Glow New Media for their support to our charity partner CAFT, through your generosity you are making a real difference to the lives of many young people in the NW and their families.

John Leake - Business Growth Director, Sci Tech Daresbury

We're absolutely blown away by the amazing efforts of the team from Sci-Tech Daresbury, so many miles and so much raised! Everyone has worked so hard, we're massively impressed with the hours in the saddle each cyclist has put in, and in awe of the amount of money they've each raised to support our charity. Their hard wok will be worth every moment of pain as it will provide so many wonderful children with an opportunity to access childhood experiences which they sadly can't take for granted due to their additional needs or social difficulties. A HUGE thank you from each and every child who will benefit.

Helen Crowther - CEO Children's Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT)

CAFT is based at the beautiful Booth Bank Farm, a 17th Century farmhouse set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. They provide a variety of free programmes for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West. CAFT helps children of all abilities aged 17 and under. Children who through no fault of their own miss out on the normalities of childhood. The needs of the children visiting the Farm are complex and range from severe physical and learning disabilities, sensory impairments and terminal illnesses through to children who act as carers for a family member, who have already faced bereavement or children who have witnessed and been victims of abuse.
